How to Create Matching Backgrounds for Icons Using TextEdit

1. Determine the Hexadecimal color of background needed by using the Digital Color Meter found in the Utilities folder on a Mac

2. Open a new document in TextEdit - type a word using any font or size.

3. Select the background color desired in TextEdit.

4. Additional fonts can be downloaded for free and added to your system fonts. See how here.

5. Use Command-Shift-4 to capture the final image as a PNG file.
